1Malaysia? 2Malaysia? You decide...

So much for the 1Malaysia spirit eh? Aku tengah refer on the ongoing dispute between Air Asia dengan Proton over the naming rights of Lotus. Like many Malaysian, I always admired the business savvy of Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes, me included. Last year, when he decided to buy the Lotus F1 naming rights, aku agak excited. I loved F1 and I've been a very keen follower of any teams yang ada kaitan dengan Malaysia. Alex Yoong-Minardi, Petronas-Sauber, Petronas-Mercedes and of course after 16-year absence, the historic Lotus name returned to Formula 1, thanks to him.

When the news came out about the dispute, aku agak dissappointed. Currently, nothing yang newsbreaking pun but on 21st March, the case scheduled to be heard in London's High Court. And the fact that the season is going to start within a few weeks, ianya tambah merumitkan keadaan. We now had the possibility of having two teams with almost the same name. Team Lotus (also known as 1MRT) vs Proton Lotus Renault Team. Proton owns a controlling stake in Lotus Group and Fernandes bought the naming rights from David Hunt, brother of late British 1976 world champion James Hunt. Fernandes is seeking up to £37m to give up the names and Proton's MD Syed Zainal Abidin termed the demand 'tidak masuk akal'. Proton's offer? £5m.

Aku tak jumpa the exact figure masa Fernandes beli hak cipta nama tue, so tak boleh nak judge unreasonable ataupun tak. Unless of course la Fernandes tue sedare aku ke, boleh la gak aku try call tanya. But in the interests of the sport, I hoped the dispute would be resolved as soon as possible. Bukan apa, nak ke kita while here we're championing the 1Malaysia spirit, the world is laughing at us, mocking us. 1Malaysia? Really? Whatever is at stake, please set aside your 'ego' and work together for the benefit of Malaysia.

On a side note, aku agak la kan, kalaulah Tony Fernandes kalah kes tue, apa dia nak buat eh? Hurmm...being 'Tony Fernandes' and being a fighter, tak pelik kalau Tony Fernandes terasa nak join auto industry lak, maklum ar, mana leh surrender camtu jer kan. Who knows, we might have another national car maker ke lepas nie. Aku nak suggest suh dia letak nama nie : Perusahaan Otomobil Ketiga Nasional or PROTIN.

Haa, konpem Proton takleh cari makan pasni. Tapi tak best nya, keta dia memang la murah tapi basic tak hengat. Body, tayar, enjin compulsory, yang lain-lain optional sila tambah sendiri pada kos yang berlainan. Cermin keta, dashboard, ekzos, absorber, bateri keta malah viper pun kalau nak kena tambah sendiri. Ada add-on macam side-order KFC gitu. Ala, macam kompeni dia Air Asia dengan Tune Hotel tue, minus all the things yang tak berapa necessary as long...
Now Everyone Can Drive!

Cantik gak tagline tue, takpun yang nie :

"Tired of driving? Have some PROTIN...it makes you moving".

Ignorant or simply stupid?

Aku duk wonder, bila la nak abis kes Anwar-Saiful nie. I read news everyday, so setiap hari gak la aku tengok tak settle2 kes nie, punya la berzaman. Aku lantak la sape betul sape salah but the fact that aku bayar RM1.20, aku tak expect news yang unworthy untuk dibaca. Such a waste of space. Geli la nak baca. Even the mention of swab of semen, a Good Morning towel, toothbrush, undies, tilam buat aku rasa loya nak muntah. Maklum ar terbayang2. Tapi bodoh gak, yang pegi imagine tue sape suruh. Ya la, memang la aku tak imagine suka2 tapi dah jenis aku nie memang feel bila duk baca something, harus la kan.

Cakap pasal unworthy news nie teringat aku a few days ago dalam Utusan. Aku bukan pembaca Utusan, cuma hari tue, time aku tengah duk tunggu turn kat kedai gunting rambut, so aku baca paper yang ada kat situ. Ada la sisipan apetah nama dia. Dia cerita pasal GRO. But nie GRO lelaki. Kenape la tak panggil je gigolo? Tau apa Utusan termed kan GRO lelaki? LRO for lelaki dan JRO for jejaka. Seriously? For real? Utusan?

Ok la, let say a middle-aged person (or lebih daripada middle contohnya) yang kerjanya entertain people, just like a GRO did, are you going to call them OTRO? (OT for orang tua la of course) . Bunyi dah sedap, kan? OTROmen for lelaki and OTROwomen for perempuan. How 'bout that Utusan? And to be brutally honest, you don't even get your BM right! Dalam artikel tue they even had a shortform, in bahasa, mind you. Lelaki Pelayan Pelanggan (LPP) and Jejaka Pelayan Pelanggan (JPP). Bukan ke the proper words should be Pelayan Pelanggan Lelaki atau Pelayan Pelanggan Jejaka? It's still a mystery why they even had to put 'jejaka' there. Serious aku tak paham.

Ada lagi satu. Apapun correct me if I'm wrong okay...tapi kat mana ada sebut Guest Relations Officer ataupun GRO itu diekslusifkan khas untuk kaum wanita? Why do you need to come up dengan LRO or even worse JRO? Budak praktikal ke intern yang buat artikel diorang tue? Don't blame me but that's my first impression.

The day aku baca tue, aku share thoughts aku kat Facebook and boy, did I get my message across. That's the best thing about social networking, right? Aku tak accused Utusan of being a sexist, far from it. Tapi sebagai salah satu media yang mainstream, at least ketua editor kena la pantau sikit. Hatta secebis pandangan dan penulisan kurang bijak camni la yang akan rosakkan korang punya readership, apatah lagi non-readers cam aku. The last thing yang korang, the media people, nak dengar dari mulut pembaca korang ialah... are you ignorant or simply stupid?
